BUSINESS ANALYSIS
Business Analysis is the discipline that analyzes an organization's needs, problems, and objectives to translate them into value-generating solutions. The Business Analyst acts as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, clarifying what is truly needed and what priorities to prioritize.
In software development, this activity is essential for gathering, organizing, and defining clear requirements, reducing ambiguity and misunderstandings. It helps transform often generic requests into concrete features, aligned with business objectives and user needs. In this sense, it complements Requirements Engineering: Business Analysis focuses primarily on value, context, and business objectives, while Requirements Engineering structures and formalizes requirements in a more technical and systematic way.
In IT, Business Analysis is important because it improves communication between business and development, reduces the risk of design errors, optimizes time and costs, and increases the likelihood of creating truly useful solutions. In short, it ensures that technology effectively supports the business and is not simply a technical response to an ill-defined need.
